About Procurement

The Procurement Section establishes and manages Preferred Supplier agreements for the provision of Indirect goods and services to the Petroleum Agency SA. The Procurement Section fully support the Affirmative Procurement initiatives. Building partnerships with BEE vendors and ensures that potential BEE suppliers are identified and ensure that a comprehensive database of BEE suppliers is created and maintained. These agreements deliver increased value for the company’s expenditure through volume discounts with suppliers, improved levels of service, and consolidated management information.

Procurement also manages all Requests for Tenders (RFT) for Indirect goods and services to the Agency and ensures BEE vendors are provided with advice and support in the tender process obtaining and evaluating quotes, and managing suppliers. We are responsible for the development and promulgation of policies and procedures relating to procurement service, strategic and operational and use of Preferred Vendors across the company.

The overall aim is to seek best value for money on all goods, services and works bought by the company and to continuously improve the procurement process to ensure best value from contracts awarded and to minimise the administration involved in making purchases. The unit also strives to ensure that all procurement is open, transparent and accountable by complying with Procurement Policy and to procurement best practice.
